Lunation: Cancer Full Moon 12/26/23

In Brownsville the Moon is full and shining in Cancer in the 12th house and the Sun, at 4˚58’ of Capricorn, is opposite in the 6th house. These cadent houses are two of the drearier houses to have our lunations shine in.  They speak of isolation and the drudgeries of work, classically the 6th could represent slavery! The Winter Solstice a few days ago gave us an artistic infusion to create and now Venus in the last degrees of Scorpio is in the 5th house pressing the gas on the sexual energy and creation as the Moon is full of light. With the Cancer Moon in the 12th house, our path is shrouded in the South Texas Winter fog. This lunation gives the feel of being at SPI on a foggy morning trying to find your spot near the water; spinning wheels in the soft sand not knowing if we will gain traction or dig deeper into the Earth.

Mercury is retrograde and moving swiftly although nearly connected to Mars in late Sagittarius. The New Moon in Sagittarius at the beginning of December witnessed speedy Mercury coming to a standstill, this was the beginning Mercury’s retrograde cycle in Capricorn. Remember that when Mercury is retrograde, we often revisit passed experiences of the degrees that Mercury passed over in the previous weeks, especially when Mercury moves back into the previous astrological sign. For more information, review the New Moon in Sagittarius piece as well as where Capricorn/Sagittarius are placed in your personal birth chart to get an idea of what this Mercury retrograde is activating in your unique experience. Mercury conjunct Mars is driving Mercury to action in this full moon. Whatever Mercury stands for in your personal experience will be manifesting strongly during this full moon cycle. The general significations of Mercury retrograde will also be exacerbated with this Mars conjunction. Travel and communication will be disrupted for the next week or two till Mercury regains speed and passes back into the 8˚ of Capricorn.

Neptune is also playing its role in this lunation, Square to Mercury and Mars and Trine to Venus. Neptune is a planet that represents spirituality and dreams, it can also be deceit, lies and drug abuse. When thinking about this Lunation we must remember in creation there is a lot of energy that can be misplaced and keeping a clear and sober mind throughout this lunation will allow us to cut through the fog and find our way. With our sexual and creative energy focused we can see our dreams realized. Jupiter provides us a measure of hope as he trines the Sun and gives a positive spin on the Suns 6th house placement. Helping from the 10th and 11th houses the drudgeries that are of the work place or possible health issues will be minimized and we can focus back on our children and creative projects.
